  1. Update: perseverance has paid dividends

    08/10/08 09:17:54 | 0 Comments

    Hi there,

The past few months have been tough: being a self-employed teacher/translator and dealing with multiple chronic conditions and Zoladex (which I had to stop in February), and having no sick pay, struggling on. I very nearly lost my translation work because the side effects of Zoladex caused me to lose my short term memory and my concentration dwindled, not least because I did not sleep a wink from the time I began the injections. Coming off the drug was a nightmare....
  2. Pain Management: Your Experiences...?

    07/10/08 01:42:10 | 0 Comments

    1. How would you 'physically' describe your Endo associated pain ?
The pain occurs throughout the month, not only with periods. With regard to periods, it tends to be worse for a day or two beforehand rather than at the start and then most often worsens towards the end of a period. Intense, searing pain. Prior to two exision ops it was knife-like and felt like my insides were being wrung out like a dishtowel, or actually being wrenched out. At other times it's like having little...
  3. what book are you reading at the moment?

    07/06/08 03:51:10 | 0 Comments

Have just finished reading "Random Tales of Heroic Love" by Danny Scheinmann and "From Baghdad, with Love". I've begun "The Kite Runner" but my concentration is waning, so am reading Peanuts albums meanwhile.
  4. Breasts / bra advice please

    07/04/08 10:36:42 | 0 Comments

    Hi Rachel,

    I've had the same issue.
Now this will give your a giggle. I didn't end up an A cup after being on Zoladex: I started out a 34A and, well...

    Say no more!

I was under the care of a breast specialist prior to the injections, as they didn't know quite what was going on with the breast (in addition to endometriosis) and to be honest, I'm just so relieved that the Zoladex shrank the breast tissue. It obviously did what it was intended...
  5. Shorter cycles after Zoladex...and shrinkage of some bits

    04/29/08 13:38:16 | 0 Comments

    Hello there,

I'm finding that my menstrual cycle is much shorter since having been on Zoladex and wondered whether others have found the same.
Previously my cycle was 27-32 days long and now it's 24 or 25 days.

I've also lost quite a bit of breast tissue: I expected a temporary decrease in size and to recoup it later.
On a positive note, the breast problems I had prior to being on Zoladex have almost totally disappeared.

    Just hoped to compare...
  6. Survey: Does your consultant/GP support and recommend complementary/natural treatments?

    04/08/08 01:01:58 | 0 Comments

    Hi there,

I'm interested to know, on behalf of all ladies, whether your consultants and GPs support you and encourage the use of complementary and natural therapies, particularly those which have been proven through research trials to benefit women with endometriosis and reduce symptoms of the disease or side effects of medication used to treat endo conventionally.

Does your doctor point you to find out more for yourself or recommend particular therapies or people trained...
  7. Gentle warning to all using Pycnogenol

Here are a list of plant oestrogens to be avoided by women with endometriosis, breast, ovarian and other hormone dependent cancers: http://www.endo101.com/phyto.htm And another article of interest about alfalfa: http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/PrintablePages/herbMonograph/0,11475,4014,00.html
  8. Gentle warning to all using Pycnogenol

    03/17/08 15:21:05 | 0 Comments

Hello there, Many of you will already know that Pycnogenol (pine bark extract) has been shown to be effective in reducing endometriosis symptoms. However, when choosing the brand of Pycnogenol (as there are many on the market) please take care to look at the other ingredients. I have just discovered, to my peril, after using a particular brand for several weeks and feeling desperately ill and in pain over the past 10 days, that the brand I've been using (and spending a great deal of money...
  9. The truth about things starting to "wake up" again after last Zoladex...

    03/10/08 13:52:19 | 0 Comments

10/3/08 Well, I've had to crawl back to bed twice today and for the rest of it have been stuffed with painkillers and ginger (for nausea). That's four days on the trot of misery and pain. This evening, I started spotting blood. So this is it. It's back. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/3/08 Tell me please...honestly...those of you...
  10. your quality of life with endo

    03/09/08 11:14:52 | 0 Comments

I feel that quality of life with this condition rests on a number of factors -relationship with GP -relationship with consultant, who must make it clear that you can return and he/she will take another look if things worsen or don't improve, say, 18 months to 2 years after the previous op and be prepared to work with you and not feel threatened by a patient who is assertive and well informed about newer approaches to treatment -taking charge of your general wellbeing by being kind to your...
